Beta Download through Steam

After reading IPACS blog this morning I got really excited. I offloaded sundry things on my hard drive, enabled the AFS4 beta and started the 217GB download. Or so I thought. After an hour it still says downloading 0% on the main screen and if I click on the downloading text screen it says there are no downloads in the queue.

Is there a trick to actually get this download started or be able to see at least that something is happening

Update .... after nearly two hours the download has actually started and I can see it is at 2%. As it is the weekend here (GMT +8.5 hours), I am thinking it will take may 15 - 17 hours to download fully. Sooo looking forward to checking it out.

Thanks Jan I am happy to let it run. After 8 hours it is at about 60%. It will get there.

KM, I do not have a steam deck but on a PC you need to go for the beta channel global scenery.

I just did a couple of quick flights. Around my home city and Sydney their are now airports and many buildings that were not there before. Also the ground texture is still not HD but up in Europe around Amsterdam it is very good. I think my continent can be worked on though and this is a step in the right direction. Thanks IPACS.

PS. the 217 GB download took me about 14 hours and it now gone 1am here so off to bed.

The resolution seems to be limited to 1920 x 1080 in the beta. I can change the refresh rate but not raise the resolution. It might be my curved screen that is the limiting factor. Anyone else had this experience?

Thanks Thomas. It is my screen that is limited, but the Sim looks good in 1920 X 1080 to me anyway.
