That is part of the new FMS landing approach system or FLS. This enables non precision approaches like a LOC only approach or ILS with glide slope disabled to be flown with vertical guidance. You then fly the approach with the vertical managed mode F-G/S instead of the selected mode FPA.
This is not fully implemented and I guess FINAL isn't the correct FMA mode displayed here but it might already work to a certain extent.

So a French accent here
If I'm not wrong, in Aerofly, when flying a LOC only approach, you have a GLIDE anyway!
My brother-in-low A380 pilot told me that the A380 is able to fly a "virtual ILS" when no ILS. That must be this famous FLS mode that is able to replace the GLIDE (F-G/S) and/or the LOC (F-LOC).

Hopefully not too low!

RNAV approches are an approaching path (including curved approaches).
Got to Palm Spring and just select runway 13L or 13R (I don't remember) as arrival (no departure) and set R13L or R13R (I still don't remember) for RNAV. You will see a long curved approach.
In the Airbus you push APPR (AP1 only or AP2 only) and the plane will follow the approach. Firstly APPNAV will be displayed and FINAL in final. NO AUTOLAND.

In case you missed it:

I tried it respecting the process, APPR AP1 and AP2 on non-ILS approach. It works. The F-LOC and F-G/S are disguised in a RNAV, but it works. APP NAV first and then FINAL.

May I ask which route you are flying?
