LOWI Innsbruck Airport from orbx together with AeroScenery

  • Hi guys!

I installed the beautiful Innsbruck Airport from orbx. The airport comes with its own photo scenery for the region around the airport. I tried to integrate this scenery in my self made Tirol/Austria scenery (made with AeroScenery). Unfortunately, I didn't manage to create homogeneous scenery. When I leave the airport, the scenery (mountains and river) changes its colour with pop ups,

The river changes its colour from blue to green, when I come nearer. I gave all orbx image files priority and deleted the corresponding AeroScenery files. I also deleted all level 13 files, because orbx doesn't use them for LOWI.

    Green river (mixture orbx/AeroScenery)

Could anybody of you successfully insert the airport scenery into an environment created with AeroScnery?

  • Why should you mix ? The Orbx scenery-Add of LOWI is nice enough regarding autogen, so no need for extra 'cultivation' here!

Exclude the area of LOWI in your selfmade Austria-cultivation as best solution, how to do that is out of my technical knowledge, sorry.

Thank you for your advice. That's exactly, what I want to do. I prefer the scenery of LOWI and would like to exclude my AeroScenery in this area. Unfortunately, I don't know how to do that either. :(

I don't know what is the best method. But at least you can use the AFS2 Cultivation/Scenery editor:

"Mass select objects, drag them, duplicate them or delete them."

"CTRL + Mouse to select objects (they are highlighted as blue after selection)." (CTRL + hold the left mouse button and create a rectangle).

    "Backspace for deleting selected objects."

  • Hi Lucky1960 ,

    this is my suggestion:

    1. Find out the coverage of LOWI scenery files.

    Download this tool by Vogel69,

    https://flight-sim.org/filebas…/127-afs2-grid-generator/

Start it and select the Folder Grid function. Select the OrbX LOWI scenery folder.

It creates a grid which can be displayed in Google Earth.

    2. Convert your full aeroscenery area and now delete all the files which are already present in the LOWI scenery.

In fact, you could even skip step1 and just use the directory content of LOWI for comparison with your content.

But Vogel's tool gives you a nice graphic impression of the coverage instead of just file names.

There can be a conflict where OrbX uses mask files, but the majority of scenery files should work.

    Hi Rodeo,

Thank you so much for pointing that out. This is a great program. Orbx has created ortho files with level 15 around the airport at LOWI and reduces the levels all around in steps. Unfortunately also relatively close to the airport to resolutions lower than Level 14, where I would like to have level 14.

Through the program the pop-up of different colors became clear to me. By mixing the files with priority for the orbx files, I suddenly had my higher resolution images with the other colors on approaching. But since I want to have a higher resolution in a larger area, I decided for loro's tip (thank you loro!) and created 0.5 m/pixel resolutions for the valley with AeroScenery.

  • Moin, a new guy greets you from the German North Sea coast.

    Brief introduction:

I have a good 50 years of model flight with helicopters of all kinds behind me and 6 years of X-Plane 10/11 and 3 years of DCS with VR glasses shape my "real" or sim events. And now also with the Aerofly. That's because there are two very well-made helicopters here and they also work very well in the VR display.

Of course, I also bought the ORBX Innsbruck scenery right away, as the landscape is also a challenge for the helicopter. Actually very nicely done, but the ground texture is simply too coarse for a helicopter flyer.

Now I came across this thread here, because this is exactly what I want - in my dreams? - could really well imagine. Since it is already over a year old, I created a new one.

Unfortunately, due to my somewhat advanced seniority, I can no longer do something like this on my own, especially since my English leaves much to be desired.

Is there a source for me that would provide me with such a texture representation for purely private use? Of course, I am of course a donation / allowance.

    Best regards,
    Dieter

  • I managed to do it myself because of this excellent video:

Very well explained and it worked for me straight away. And what a difference in the display, because I also had the tiles created in z19. For a helicopter it is actually a must for this scenery.

    Thanks and best regards,
    Dieter
