That seems pretty good to me - I paid £399 for my Rift-S.

This was pretty quick after the Reverb G1. LM would call it Hotfix 1. Can I expect to get it for half the price when I return my Reverb G1?
Kind regards, Michael,
It looks good. Will wait for reviews to see how much the tracking and optics are improved.
I was kind of hoping they'd completely redone the controllers. I've never understood why WMR uses visible light controller tracking. It makes it more sensitive to room lighting and flickering LED lights.
If I do buy it, I'll wait for Black Friday again. I picked up my Reverb for £430 in the last BF sale.
I have the Odyssey Plus now, which was a great improvement over my Acer. If the G2 has lens to eye distance adjustment like the Index it might be worth a look. Otherwise I'll pass on this one.
I have tested the Reverb G2 with Aerofly and overall it's a great visual upgrade.
Being able to read all the fine details in the cockpit as well as looking in the distance with more clarity was drastically noticeable.
The Reverbs colors in the day time are wonderful! Very impressed with that. However, night time feels very grey.
Comfort level is better than my Odyssey+
The Reverb offers '90 hz' and '60 hz' settings.
If you use motion reprojection on '90 hz' then you will get 45 FPS which makes everything run smooth while maintaining visuals.
At first I was running at '60 hz' with motion reprojection, capping it at 30fps which was causing horrible visual experience.
Now I'm back at 45fps and the experience is great!
Everyone's experience is different, just thought I'd share my two cents.
Friends of me have a Reverb G1 and a Quest 2.
The Quest 2 is close in resolution to the Reverb G1and has pretty good image quality too though not as sharp as the Reverb...
Quest 2 is a good headset when you're on a budget with better controllers and the possibility for wireless PCVR gaming.
For flight simulation I would prefer the HP Reverb.
Also to be noted that with the Reverb in many detailed sceneries my system specs are not always maintaining 45 FPS.
In VR it's a way better experience when everything is consistent and smooth.
Good excuse to upgrade the horsepower.

Planning on a 3080 upgrade when they're back in stock (guessing 2-4 months).
Jake, what settings have you settled on in FS2, SteamVR, Nvidia, etc? Don't have my G2 yet but it should be here within a few weeks.

Hi Ken, I hear you on that one!
So after some more tinkering around. Turns out there is a bug with the new Reverb G2 along with WMR.
It automatically puts your headset render resolution at 150% so that's why I wasn't achieving the constant 45FSP. It's needs to be set at 50% (which actually means 100%).
I'm sure they will fix this.
I've been playing around with these settings. Some give, some take.

Correction ... black box just arrived.

Nice! Let us know what you think.
For me, looking outside the Sweet Spot is kind of distracting as compared to the Odyssey.
First impression is no more screen door - that C172 dash looks real. The extra resolution helps with the "real" look too. I was running with render scale set to 1.4 for the G2 and my Samsung. I checked the SteamVR application-specific resolution and it showed 100%.
I agree with your night time grey comment - it's like the cockpit is filled with a grey fog. It's tolerable just after sunset, but don't go any later than that or the cockpit will fill with fog.
UPDATE - I checked the Samsung (Original) again at night, the cockpit area just gets black - you can't see anything except maybe some god-rays but it's not as distracting as the grey fog in the cockpit. The screen door was a compromise I had to live with using the Samsung but the colors/brightness was worth it. Now the G2 also has great colors but no more screen door.

Agreed, I've tried different headsets since and nothing seems to beat the vibrate colors and blacks of the Odyssey.
Improved resolution is the only benefit with the Reverb.
I see someone on flight-sim.org posted about 'ReShade' tool compatible with Aerofly. Might be worth tinkering with.
The G2 sweet spot seems the same as my Odyssey-Original. I did get the 150% resolution issue this time with the G2 so I bumped down to 50% to match the G2 native resolution. The higher resolution is a nice step up from the Odyssey.
What's the trick to get the mouse to work in VR?
Hello,
I have one of the first RIFT ..about 2 years ..
I never look to another VR Hardware ... so 2 little questions ..
When I buy the new Reverb G2 ... is it possible in games (that needs much CPU /GPU power ) ...to set resolution down ,
or have I live with less 10...20 FPS ? ( because HP Reverb 2 has much more pixel to calculate than my Rift ?! )
And the 2. question ...can I use all my games I buy last 2 years in oculus store ? Drift ... Startrek .... Star Wars and so on ..
I think you should be able to use the G2 with FS2 with a steady 45FPS on your GTX1070 by adjusting the FS2 VR/Graphics settings. I don't know about the other games - my guess is they will struggle more than FS2.
A 1070 card is good enough for a Quest2/Reverb and Aerofly FS2, You can lower resolution and still have almost no screendoor effect when framerates drop too much in XP11 or DCS for example.
A better GPU would be nice, the rest of your PC is quite fast as it is now....
With Reverb/WMR you can still play your games bought at Oculus by using SteamVR and Revive.
Windows Mixed Reality software can be a bit quirky sometimes, I had to do a full reinstall a few times a year and the Reverb controllers are not so good compared to Oculus.
I like to do some gaming too and for that reason I bought the (also wireless for PCVR) Quest 2 instead of the Reverb...
The Reverb has great sound though and the Quest 2 not so much, I modded a Sennheiser HD25 to fit permanently on the Quest, finally no wires in games anymore...
A Quest 2 with a better headstrap and good headphones will be close to the price of a Reverb but I like the wireless option and better controllers for games.
For flightsimulators only I would go Reverb G2...
