ORBX LOWI for AF2 in JUne

Like the original announcement from Orbx about "Project A" this will be another wakeup call for developers out there who are still asleep at the wheel regarding Aerofly.

The areas covered are really small, 2,500 square km is just a radius of 28 km. It sounds like downtown Chicago and a similar area around Innsbruck unless it is biased up and down the Inn valley. It would be nice if the area around the RTT NDB was covered, it is much more than 28 km out.
The scenery looks great. At last a chance to get some Piper Cherokees in FS2. -
Since LOWI is in Austria can I assume IPAC are to offer an Austria DLC

Great great great great news!!!! Once copy sold already, that's for sure! Specially after seeing the screenshots and reading about the good performance on the Orbx forum!

The first commercial product for aerofly, and one of the best sceneries from OrbX.
I think this is a must have for most of us aerofly users.
It's exciting to see the journey going on...Rodeo

The start of a new era, a wonderful time to be in flight simming. Can't wait to purchase Orbx LÖWI for Aerofly SF2 and experience it in VR.

- Official Post
That is awesome!
Have you seen their in-game screenshots yet?

The elevated start of the Brenner Pass road looks really nice, the interest in the hospital roof heli-pad might mean something? Do they know inside information about the Aero helicopter?
The trees look well placed, none on roads, railway lines or runways. It will be hard to use Aero Sion after getting used to this add-on. -

It will be hard to fly anywhere else after getting used to this addon...! -
I just hope they get AI Traffic and ATC working around that great scenery.

I am wondering if the gates will operate at LOWI. Yes, AI and ATC will be missed at these Orbx airports. Maybe someone at Orbx will post an in-game video so we can see if we have ground traffic on the roads and at the airport along with the animated trains. It look like a lot of high quality static aircraft sitting around the LOWI airport.

An earlier Orbxsystems page
http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/12…he-alps/?page=1
might give an idea of the actual coverage area, this is about FX (!) but it does show a 10M resolution extended area 275km across. This might be less relevant to Aero which has basic worldwide photo-scenery.They mentioned the lead in strobe lights for the westerly runway. I hope they will be able to give us PAPIs that do not pierce the fog unlike the unfortunate Aero type.

While reading the intro to LOWI at the Orbx forum I noticed the Q400 in the screenshots and also noticed the statement that "those beautiful aircraft are default". Sounds like Jarrad has the AF2 Q400. Wonder if it is flying or just used as part of the static display?
Also read that LOWI does indeed have animated vehicles, people and trains. Nice.
We will need an Orbx BOB like vehicle, or a P3Dv3 Avitar to walk or move around on the ground to see all the new features and additions.

The PA-28 Piper Cherokee series singles seem to have waterproof covers on the cockpit door and windows. Those are not for flying.
-
Yah, I'm thinking they are maybe Orbx stuff, or part of the Aerofly RC fleet......

Jarrad stated in one of the forums that the Cherokee has an N number and is owned by one of the guys there at the airport and only flies a few times a year.

There is one with a white cover and another with a red cover. Never flying it is a great way to keep the cost under control! I got the mobile FS cherokee but didn't invest in the PC FS one, it has the ugly round orifice cooling air intake.
I'd go for an original -180 or -181. They had a nice spinner, a cross between a Vickers Viscount and a FW-190. The pointy spinner looks ridiculous, a bit like the 'supersonic' all flying horizontal stabiliser.
[A streamlined spinner has a linear increase in cross sectional area with distance, a pointy one has a draggy exponential increase in area with distance, it's not a Freudian thing]

No screenshots at night, so I guess no added night lighting?
