PNW-AFS2 has been approved internally as a project which Holger will be leading. We have a bunch of new technology we are working with for some unannounced projects which will allow us to tackle very large photoreal products with all the usual FTX full fat region goodies included.

Additionally Jarrad and Alex have been working on refining the tech for airport ports from P3D to AFS2 so we will soon have an internal SDK made available to Orbx developers.

We are liaising with the IPACS team on a continual basis and there will be new features added to their engine to help us achieve our mutual ambitions.

Remember, our investment in AFS2 is a marathon not a sprint, all good things take time. A Quote from JV.

Another great news from Orbx https://orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/14…al-alpha-shots/

Netherlands will be also port for AFS2 after release for FSX/P3D.

With photoreal regions seems more easy to port scenery between FSX/ P3D and AFS2.

Looking at the pictures, a thing or two jumped out at me:

    1) Looking at the posted pictures in the thread, it's apparent this scenery and others will already have watermarks. Will either Ipacs or Orbx itself use that to add "real" water to their sceneries?

    2) Apparently this scenery, and probably others, will have seasons. Does or will Aerofly also have that capability, or will Aerofly ports be one season only?

For seasons i think it will be as LOWI dlc, not yet implemented and just one season but added when IPACS introduce seasonal variations.

I'd better not give up on Geoconverting though....

JV No that’s simply not possible. Only where free or affordable satellite imagery is available do photoreal regions become feasible. For example to license the UK it would cost a ridiculous amount of money, same with Norway.

A shame about that. I won't be Geoconverting as the clouds from raw satellite imagery ruin it for me. Give me Orbx's landclass over that any day. But that's alright, P3D and AFS2 are side-by-side with me.

IPACS - any news on the Chicago autogen patch? I've asked a few times on the Orbx forums but no response.

Photoreal and seasons are not normally used in the same sentence. Sure sounds interesting though.

UPDATE: Evidentially Antoine and Thomas have been making seasonal adjustments to photoreal scenery for the Switzerland and surrounding areas for years now. I guess because it was not commercially available or they chose not to have any reviews by Avsim.com, I failed to even hear about it. I do remember maybe 5 or so years ago Avsim requested a copy of Switzerland Professional or Aerofly Professional for review but the developer declined. I had never seen or read about anything Aerofly until last December when I was introduced to Aerofly FS2.

My scenery reviews have been either Orbx products or MegaSceneryEarth products which does not speak of photoreal scenery and seasons in the same sentence, and avoids discussing better night lighting, or lack thereof, nor better water masking.

I’m holding off adding anymore FSET for PNW for now. I already have most of my old Orbx stomping grounds installed with the smaller airports sporting longer and wider runways. The Lear can get into most of those backwood strips but getting out is not so easy. Good thing I got a chainsaw for Christmas and AC3D helps.

Hello Ray, Have you find a good ortho source for vancouver island region? It seems with the ORBX PNW photoreal we will not have the canadian part.

I will have to look. Is this in the Tongrass area of scenery? That is as good as Orbx.
