Next question would be; is density altitude a factor engine performance in Aerofly?

Density is a factor, yes.
Take the R22 and try taking off in Schildhorn in Switzerland. Would not be possible without ground effect.

With that being said, would our beloved R22 be able to fly reasonably in the Lukla scenery? If not, any chance for a boost mod??

I have not tested it but I guess in ground effect you will probably be able to hover maybe a few feet off the ground, with the sloping down runway takeoff will probably be possible (all you need to do is descent slower than the runway slopes down) but climbing after takeoff is probably not easy or possible at all. We will see

10-4 Roger that. Thanks Jan. Looking forward to this part of the world.

This looks too good to be true, how do you get those high resolution dirt /grass strips? Is it a high resolution orthophoto or a custom ground poly with a texture? I wanted to create a small scenery area which contains several dirt strips but they don't look nearly as good with the 1 m/Pixel orthophotos I'm limited to.

Wonderful !!!!!
And the new Lukla would be a good opportunity for DrHotwing1 (Jeff) to expand his "Aerofly Life Project".
Instead of cars he could use for the moving traffic this model:

.....this would be really nice and a deeeeeep immersion

Or this model? 😂😂

...yes
but I think this model is better suited for Lukla ramp-agents and flight-controllers , just my two cents.

The detailed airports here are down to 2.5 cm/pix + bumpmaps, which is of course a whole different level than 1m/pix. Most of it is simply tedious manual artwork.

We will certainly need something stronger than the R22. It can takeoff to/from Lukla and all the airports lower than Syangboche to some extend, but helipads higher up like Everest basecamp are even impossible with the ground effect.
The helipads are there but are more in expectation of something stronger coming in the future. Aerofly FS2 supports choppers just for a few months now, I'm confident we will see the first additional choppers soon.

Great things are coming this year !

I tend to consider this one as a new DLC. There are so many high grade airports over such a large area. All those details just shows what a team of 20 or 30 graphic artists can do when give a year or two to do it. Right Sasa?

Amazing quality. Any idea when you will release it?

Yes, the pictures interferes the feeling of really beeing there.... .
@ DreamFoil, conex: Now it's time to wake up and lets make a nice AS350+ for AFS2
!!!

Excellent work! Hope to see LimeSim's US Cities ported over to AFS2.

Regarding boost, Maybe modifying the R22 to implement an R44 and then the R66 with turbine.
Or just applying R66 power to R22.

Isn't there a helicopter that is used for operations in the mount everest area in the real world? I faintly remember it was a French one that also holds the altitude record for a helicopter but I can't remember the exact name.
