Aerofly FS 4 User Content

  • Anyone already tested the "Wettergeraet" does it work?

How about the Justflight planes, do they work?

Will my repaints of the F18, C172 still work?

If the repaints use the option.tmc that was used in the latest version of Aerofly FS 2 then those should still work.

Just copy them from your FS 2 user folder over to the new Aerofly FS 4 folder.

We're in contact with JustFlight, they want to offer their aircraft for Aerofly FS 4. The previous Aerofly FS 2 planes are not compatible with the new Aerofly FS 4 but I've already started converting them so that they can easily add them back for the new sim.

  • option.tmc is what I had to add at some point.

SDK btw is still the old one ;)

  • Just tested custom project and only images and xref objects work properly. Airport runways incorrectly positioned and nothing else such as trees, 3d models and autogen building appear.

This was to be expected as IPAC's has already told us this, just need to wait for SDK.

  • Hopefully converting all great freeware efforts will be made easier in the near future!
For now I will keep FS 2 installed with all the great freeware scenery and helicopters, we will see what FS 4 brings us in the future...

Aerial images as well as elevation data is backwards compatible.

3D sceneries will need to be converted, but the amount of work required is really not high. However adjustments might be needed on how the data is organized, it will get more clear once we explain how the new system works.

But you will need our new tools which we will publish soon.

We also don't really know how user content is organized, we did see some bad examples in the past so our tools will likely need some extra functionality to work smooth in our new system. As an example, in FS 2 one could create a cultivation file covering arbitrary regions, in FS 4 we now divide the data in equal sizes aligned to our generic world grid system. This has some advantages with respect to the performance on when and how data is loaded.

  • Yes, I have copied all image files 1:1 to FS4 and it works.

  • IPACS has crafted airports. I am not very confident to add a mesh. I gues this would break their elevation.

Besides this I would like to highlight that IPACS has managed to get perfectly sloped runways on GCTS and ENSH, to give two examples. Custom mesh is probably going to break this.

Cultivation for Norway and a highres photo scenery for Switzerland is really needed
