Lukla in Aerofly FS2 - Preview

On request at Aerosoft I got the information that the addon at Aerosoft is only compatible with the "in-house" box or download version of Aerofly FS 2. For Steam you have to wait for your own version, which hopefully will be available soon.

    Viele Grüße

  • I guess it will work. I placed it manually in the same addon folder like orbx goes. I did not like it in my documents folder as this one is synched with my cloud. I am convinced if you move it into your steam addon folder, it will work, same as orbx does with steam 😉

  • While I use AeroflyFS2 Steam, I bought it from Aerosoft but didn't find time to install it yet. I recall I bought Helgoland directly from Aerosoft, too, and this does work with the Steam version, thus I though it would be a reasonable extrapolation to expect it from Lukla, too.

    I'll report later.

  • Here the same. Just installed it into AeroflyFS2 Steam and it works. It goes into

    C:\Users\[profile]\Documents\Aerofly FS 2\addons\scenery

so this may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I suspect it can be shifted to another place as any other scenery, if required.

It looks darn good, just flying is a bit of a, well, challenge, even more as my trusted little Cessna supposedly will not do it there.

    Kind regards, Michael

  • So what available planes seem to work well with these airports?

Exactly my question. I tried the Learjet and while I can fly it at that Altitude (after having been lifted;() I can't get it into the air on the short Lukla runway.

Would be grateful for suggestions, too.

My personal favorites from the recent months in development:

    - King Air C90. Has very strong wheel brakes. With full flaps it can take off and land at Lukla and most other airports in the area rather nicely - even with turbulence etc.

    - Aermacchi MB-339: Admittedly not the most realistic choice but even this one can do some rather smooth landings at Lukla and other airfields. Another benefit is that you can fly it from there basically anywhere else (except landings in Syangboche maybe, runway is just too short/high and not enough slope to brake the aircraft enough).

    - A320 for Everest flights out of Tingri. Very interesting to see how how it performs taking off and landing at such high altitudes (see manual's Tingri chapter for further notes on high altitude landings and takeoffs).

There may be more options of course. I haven't tried all of them.

    Bests,

    Sascha

    Un séjour sans faille

Yes, I definitively confirm, it works

After doing most of the developing and testing of the Aerosoft installer in the Steam version I assume it's safe to say it works in the Steam version. :)

  • Thanks Sascha, I think I'll give the King Air a spin tomorrow. Never tried it so far.

You've done an excellent job with that scenery which will give me many hours to enjoy. Thanks a lot for your ongoing support of AeroflyFS2.

    Kind regards, Michael

  • I can confirm it works for the Steam edition without ANY hassle. Downloaded it, clicked on the .exe file and it found the Aerofly Steam directory and completed the install without any intervention from me.

And WHAT a scenery it is!!!!! Incredible detail, superb frame rates and drumroll: the R22 is able to Hover in Ground Effect at the ramp at Lukla, and takeoff into the valley!!! You CAN also turn right towards Everest but forget any ambition to proceed to Base Camp or anything like that. There are a couple of helipads down in the valley though and a carefully planned approach can be carried out to a successful landing. If we now can get 2 things - a Twin Otter and a Squirrel - Aerofly FS2 will leave all other sims for dust in VR use. ANd as a boneus (for me) the latest version of NextLevel Platform manager, 2.87 has restored motion, kind-of... Only Pitch and roll, accelleration and deceleration doesnt have the telemetry update rates to work properly, but at least the chair now moves with the aircraft during flight. Overall, a good day in my sim-world!!!

  • We are trying to publish tThe Steam version of Aerosoft LUKLA in roughly 2-3 weeks. At the same time we will also update our DVD version to the same version as the STEAM version. Due to the large code changes, we want to do a good and thorough testing before we release it to everybody.

Please don't forget the version for Mac users.:/

I have been flying that one on AFS2 last weekend - The call is on IPACS to release their first pay AS350B3. It is fully functional available, just not to us privately ;)
